An article by Andrew Giambrone from DC Curbed cites a new report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation that says thirty-two thousand children in the nation’s capital live below the federal poverty line, one of the highest child poverty rates in the U.S. when considered among states. That’s roughly 26 percent of the under-18 population in D.C., compared with a national child poverty rate of 18 percent as of 2017.
